To get a medical marijuana card in Florida, you must be a permanent or seasonal Florida resident and be diagnosed with a qualifying condition by a qualified physician during an in-person exam. The physician enters you in the Medical Marijuana Use Registry. You then apply for the state ID card, which costs $75. Florida’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU) says online applications are approved in about 10 business days on average.

You need an active ID card before you can buy.
The ID card must be renewed every year, and renewal applications open 45 days before it expires. Your physician must also evaluate you at least once every 30 weeks before issuing a new certification. Read the Florida renewal guide for the steps.
