Medical cannabis in San Antonio, Texas
How Texas medical cannabis access works
San Antonio patients use the Texas Compassionate Use Program (CUP). Texas does not issue a physical medical marijuana card. A physician registered with CUP evaluates whether you qualify and, when appropriate, records a low-THC cannabis prescription in the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas (CURT).
CURT lets registered physicians enter prescriptions and licensed dispensing organizations verify them. A Florida card application and Florida state card fees are not part of this Texas process.
Prepare for your physician evaluation
- Review the Texas DPS patient guidance for current program requirements.
- Find a participating physician using the official DPS physician search. Confirm availability, evaluation cost and required records with the provider.
- Discuss your medical history and treatment questions with the physician. Eligibility and prescribing are individual medical decisions.
- If a prescription is entered in CURT, follow the licensed dispensing organization's instructions for filling it.
Questions to ask before booking
Confirm that the physician participates in CUP and that your appointment will meet the program's requirements. Ask what identification and medical records to bring, whether follow-up visits are needed, and what the full evaluation and follow-up charges will be. Confirm the visit location or remote appointment arrangements directly with the provider.
Express Marijuana Card can help with general appointment questions. Call 877-933-3362 or text 786-345-7609 to confirm which services and appointment options are currently available for Texas. This page does not confirm a staffed San Antonio clinic, a specific physician or a Texas evaluation price.
